I am an editorial, publishing, and communications leader with more than 20 years of international experience at the United Nations, the World Bank, Oxford University Press, and Hyphen Hub.
Throughout my career, I have led publishing operations, editorial strategy, communications initiatives, and knowledge-sharing projects that help organizations reach global audiences. My experience includes editorial leadership, strategic communications, book acquisitions, event management, and executive English coaching.
At the United Nations headquarters in New York, I led the organization's global publishing operations, overseeing an extraordinary team that managed acquisitions, editorial and production, author relations, our e-commerce site, the award-winning UN iLibrary, worldwide print and digital distribution, and UN COMTRADE, the world's premier database of international trade statistics.
At the World Bank, I led a talented editorial team as well as numerous digital and print publishing projects and initiatives. I had the unique opportunity to be assigned to a two-year communications assignment in South Sudan, creating a strategy that was successfully implemented to improve communications of results for a multi-country trust fund managed by the Bank for critical development projects in the world's newest country.
Earlier, at Oxford University Press in New York, I acquired books by leading scholars and practitioners in international development, economics, and international relations, including Nobel Prize-winning economists and authors from the World Bank, UNDP, and the World Economic Forum.
Today, I help professionals communicate with confidence through executive coaching in business English, presentations, writing, and public speaking.
Based in Medellín, Colombia, I continue my work with Hyphen Hub while seeking consulting, contract, and leadership opportunities.

¡Hola a todos! Soy Stephen, soy de Nueva York y vivo en El Poblado. He estado enseñando inglés en Medellín desde septiembre de 2025 y actualmente estoy aceptando nuevos estudiantes.

Native English Teacher from New York – Private English Lessons in El Poblado, Medellín
Hi everyone! I'm Stephen, originally from New York, and I live in El Poblado. I've been teaching English in Medellín since September 2025 and am currently accepting new students.
I've taught English for several years in Spain, Brazil, and New York, as well as over the past several months here in Medellín.
I also worked for international publishing houses in New York, where I wrote English-language learning materials for adults at Oxford University Press.
Later, I served as an editor and managed an editorial team at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., and until recently, I led the United Nations' global publishing team in New York.
I hold a master's degree in International Development from University College Dublin Ireland and offer a practical, internationally focused approach to learning English, with an emphasis on real-world communication, pronunciation, and building confidence when speaking.
I offer private lessons that are fully tailored to each student's needs and goals, whether for conversation, work, job interviews, travel, business, or exam preparation.
