• 1) Do you speak this language because it's your native language or because a teacher inspired you to learn it?

  I speak English because I developed a deep passion for it through my education and inspiring teachers who made the language come alive. Over the years, this passion grew stronger as I studied and taught English in different countries. In India, English is one of the official languages, so it has always been an essential part of my life, both personally and professionally. It’s the language that connects me with students around the world and allows me to help them achieve their goals with confidence.

• 2) Name a historical or fictional character who, in your opinion, is a true representation of the culture you teach.

  I would choose J.K. Rowling, as she represents imagination, creativity, and the global influence of English literature. Her stories connect people from all backgrounds and show how powerful storytelling can be in shaping empathy, understanding, and communication. Through her writing, she has inspired millions of readers to dream, think critically, and believe in the power of words, values that I try to bring into my lessons as well. Just like her stories unite people from different cultures, I aim to make my English classes a space where students feel inspired, connected, and confident to express themselves freely.

• 3) Does this character have an expression, phrase, or behavior that you particularly find amusing?

  Yes, I really like J.K. Rowling’s playful way of using humor in her writing — especially how she gives even serious characters a touch of wit. I find it amusing how she balances imagination and realism, which reminds me that learning should always include a bit of fun. I try to bring the same balance into my lessons, motivating my students while keeping the learning experience enjoyable and engaging.

• 4) Why do you consider speaking this language to be important (from an academic, professional, or personal perspective)?

  I believe speaking English is incredibly important both academically and professionally, as it opens doors to global opportunities. It’s the language of international communication, higher education, and business, helping people connect across cultures. From a personal perspective, English gives individuals the confidence to express themselves, share their ideas, and build meaningful connections around the world. As a teacher, I’ve seen how improving English can truly change lives, whether it’s helping a student succeed in their career, study abroad, or simply communicate with confidence in everyday situations.

• 5) What is the main difficulty with this language, and what aspect could help make learning it easier?

  One of the main difficulties with English is its inconsistency in pronunciation, spelling, and grammar rules. For example, many words are not pronounced the way they’re written, and there are numerous exceptions that can confuse learners. Another challenge is the wide variety of accents and idiomatic expressions used in different English-speaking countries.
  
  To make learning easier, I focus on context-based learning and real-life communication rather than memorisation. When students learn English through authentic situations — like conversations, videos, and interactive tasks — they not only remember better but also gain confidence. I also encourage them to listen actively and speak regularly, which helps them internalise natural patterns of the language.

• 6) Tell us an anecdote from your experience as a teacher or student.

  A few years ago, I taught a student who was extremely shy and afraid to speak English during lessons. She used to worry about making mistakes and would only give one-word answers. I started using creative speaking activities, like role plays and short conversations about her interests, to help her feel more comfortable. Over time, she began expressing herself more confidently, and by the end of the course, she was leading discussions in class. Seeing that transformation reminded me why I love teaching — helping students find their voice through English is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

• 7) Help us get to know you better; tell us about some of the trips you've taken.

  Travel has always been a big part of my personal and professional growth. I’ve had the opportunity to visit and work in several countries, including Italy, France, Germany, and Spain, where I interacted with people from different cultures and backgrounds. Each trip gave me a deeper understanding of how language connects us and how English can bridge cultural differences. I especially enjoy exploring local traditions, trying different cuisines, and learning how people express themselves in their own languages. These experiences have made me more open-minded, empathetic, and culturally aware and qualities I bring into every English lesson I teach.
